ETHNOGRAPHIC EXPOSITION

It provides the summary of folk arts, aesthetic style, habits and customs in Nová Baňa area in the past, substantiated by a selection of exhibits within several topical sections. It shows the standard household equipment during the 1st half of 20th century, home fabrication of textiles, the area folk clothing and work tools for different traditional rural tasks (mainly for agriculture).
The glass underpaintings, rich needlework and textiles as well as the polychromic wood carvings with religious themes provide an idea on the folk arts of the area.

The skill of the local potters is proven in rich range of shapes and types of ceramics, which is painted, enameled, smoked and/or decorated.
Also the painted coffins, wedding garlands and plummets in frames and the wooden figure serving as bee-hive will attract your sight.
The folk habits became a rich source of inspiration also for the contemporary folk carvers. The selection of their work is an integral part of this exposition. The pieces of Ladislav Polc, Július Katina and Jozef Vozár are alive idyllic scenes from the rural life and work, made with sense of humor and skill, and giving you really extraordinary experience.
